I am in love with our spring bridal session we had done in April by Brooke Stapleton.
We had our bridals/first look taken at Memory Grove and Temple Square, and can I just say the BLOSSOMS
were heavenly! I am so happy we did our pictures when we did because a week later those blossoms were alllll gone. Can we all just agree that spring flowers should somehow always stay year yound??
About the Dress: The first thing on my "wedding to-do list" was to find THE dress. My mom and I had gone shopping to one store in Provo, and I thought I had found it!!! buuuutt…. it was only our first store, and i figured what the heck… I like all this attention and which girl only wants to go to ONE bridal store??
So we walked out with the idea we would most likely be back for that dress after we shopped around. A week or so later we decided to go to the Thanksgiving Pointe Bridal Expo. After 2 hours of stuffing our face with free catering samples and joining in with the 2,000 other desperate brides for a "free honeymoon" getaway. that i didn't win… still bitter. We came across a booth for The Bridal Center in Lehi. They had the most beautiful lace dresses on display. Lace had become so popular I didn't know if that is really what i wanted… I kind of like to go against the grain in life. But after seeing those dresses i HAD to try at least one on!
We went THAT day.
and the first dress I tried on,
was it!!
was it!!
score!!!
This Maggie Soterro gown I fell over. I loved that it wasn't white sinner. I loved the gold/blush under color with the ivory lace overlay. I loved that it was figure fitting but not so much that I couldn't walk. If I could I would wear my wedding dress to bed it was THAT comfortable.
I didn't have to do much altering. In fact none at all! it fit like a glove enter clique it was made for me statement and me just going against the grain I wanted to add a longer sleeve since it only had a cap sleeve. So The Bridal Center did an AWESOME job first consoling me after a minor panic attack when they told me they were going to rip the bottom of my dress off…. helllllo scary!! And then creating the most gorgeous loose sleeve. hip hip hooray!
BUT
My most favorite part of my dress has to be the wedding date mother and I sewed into it. I love having that memory working on my dress with my mom and adding our own little "something blue" personal touch. It really is something I will always remember. XO
The bouquet: Mother and I decided we wanted to make our own bridal bouquet. I'm not sure if that was the best of ideas we've had or the worst…. so day of the pictures we made it. Overall it turned out good, and my favorite part was we incorporated tulips from our yard. Ever since I was little I could not wait until the tulips came up at my house, and every year I would say to myself "I can't wait to get married just so I can use those tulips" big dreams right?
So snip* snip*
and poof! dream fulfilled.
Flower Crown: couldn't decide if i wanted it… then I wanted it… then I couldn't decide… and then of course day of Im sensing a pattern, secrets out I procrastinate I decided YOBO you only bridal once I wanted it. So i made one. I was pretty proud of myself and actually thought it was really fun to craft up! anyone need a flower crown? i got your back.
The moment Carson turned around and saw me in my wedding dress is one that I will never forget! and in that moment life was just pure bliss.
And finally the pictures from our first look. Enjoy. warning… overload.
And the rest of our bridal pictures! warning… even more overload. How can I just choose a few..!?!!
XO, Shand.
